BBL FAAB Week 2

BBL FAAB Week 2

Musings on the FAAB Purchases for Week 2 of the BBL season, along with some interesting tidbits on the previous week in the BBL.

TDA Down, TDA Down!

The Cocky Spainards were crushed with the news of d’Arnaud’s injury.  The young catcher was off to a blistering start to the season posting 2 HR, 10 RBI and a hawt .356 OBP.  I also hear an allegation of grievance was filed with the commissioner’s office over Al’s Pals interference with a minor league player Kevin Plawecki, rumored to be called up soon by the Mets.  We hear from the commissioner’s office that the Pals may lose their entire $37 bid on the young catching prospect.

Feeling the Pain.

Jay’s Crew is under investigation by the Commissioner’s office for intentional infliction of emotional distress on the Nitros.  The damning evidence appears to be clear in the form of an email received by the Nitro’s management:

“Jinxsos was not amused by your article”.

This damning email was sent shortly after the dastardly pitch by rookie (Rule 5) reliever J.R. Graham into the hand of Alex Rios which fractured his hand placing him out of service for weeks.  It is reported that Pals made a bid (which was denied by the commissioner’s office) for Graham because of the “emotion and timing of the situation”. The Royals have been hit by pitchers a league leading 13 times.  Then, to top off the distress, reports say that management for the Pals sent an email with words to the effect of:

Carrasco hit in the face by pitch, unconscious on the mound.

Of course, the incident involved Melky Cabrera (Sundance Kids) who hit a liner right into the pie hole of Carrasco.  Which, ties to the final dastardly act made by the Paezans who have pleaded temporary insanity in that “Mean Potter” is alleged to have sent the following:

Carlos Gomez has a prior commitment…

This references the untimely injury to Carlos Gomez who was hustling down the line trying to beat out a grounder. All of these actions are under investigation by the commissioner’s office.  On a lighter note, Nitros have called up: Gerardo Parra for $31, Yimi Garcia for $11 and Paco Rodriquez for $0.

Wright, Not Right

David Wright really does not like sandwiches.  He also doesn’t like staying in a lineup the entire season.  The Sundance Kids get a lesson in owning David Wright this year.  The Kids went loco on middle infielders by the way, adding:

Espinosa $7 and Beckham $7 and Duffy $4.  With Infante already on the roster, not sure how many more middling middle infielders must be mentored.  Yeah, I was trying to do someing with “m’s” there, but not sure it worked out.

Dude, why didn’t you bid on Campbell, Wright’s replacement?  Spainards got him for $3.

Cheap Pitching

Remember when I said here:

If he can find some pitchers to bolster that ERA and Ratio, then he will compete.

Watch out, the Crew is finding some pitching.  Currently he has notably: AJ Burnett (2.25 ERA/1.17 WHIP/15 K) Shane Greene (.39 ERA/.74 WHIP/11 K) (Yes, that is .39 and .74) This week, Jay won Chris Heston (SF) for $21.  Crew is making a move.

Chicks Dig the Long Ball

Meat also digs the long ball.  Just to remind the other owners:

Best Pick: Nelson Cruz ($22) – Really?  Really!?  Let’s get this straight.  Entire league is short on power and we let 40 HR go out the door for $22.  Nice work owners.

Yeah, Nelson Cruz is going crazy hitting two more HR’s last night to bring his total to 8 HR on the season.  Sick.  To further his love for the long ball, Meat purchased Olt for $1.  Unfortunately, Olt is on the DL so that will be $1 down the drain.

Other Odds and Ends

Pastries take a flier on Realmuto ($16) who hopes to be the “Real” deal and replace Salty in Miami behind the dish.  This means that the Pastries are carrying 3 catchers on its roster, which is not always never the best decision.  At least the kid is in the majors before Frenchie purchased his contract. Speaking of Frenchie (Jeff Francoeur).  Yes, he is back and batting cleanup for the Phillies.  This probably speaks more to the state of baseball in the City of Brotherly Love than it does to his ability.  The Spainards take a flier on the former amazing Braves rookie at $0.
